There are a lot of people who buy and consume Jack n’ Jill products in the Philippines due to their wide variety of products. Their products range from candies, biscuits, chips and etc. But what if the consumers weren’t getting what they paid for? What if the amount of product that they are getting is actually different from the amount declared by the company. This means that all of the consumers buying Jack n’ Jill products aren’t getting their money’s worth.
Because of this problem, I have decided to conduct an investigation to check whether or not Jack n’ Jill are actually giving the amount of product to the consumers that they declared. The initial hypothesis was that the producer was not giving the amount of product that they declared and people were not getting their money’s worth. To test this, I chose two products of Jack n’ Jill (Cream – O cookies and XO candy) to test. For the cookies, the declared weight was 36 grams. Using an electronic scale, I measured the weight of the cookies in 3 separate trials. I did the same procedure also for the measuring of the candy with a declared weight of 3.5 grams. After measuring, the 3 weights that I was able to record were 37 ± 0.5 grams, 36 ± 0.5 grams and 37 ± 0.5 grams. The candies that were measured weighed at 4 ± o.5 grams, 3 ± 0.5 grams and 4 ± 0.5 grams.
Based on the results of the experiment, it can be said that the buyers of Jack n’ Jill products, Cream – O and XO at least, are getting what they paid for since the measured weight from the 3 trials are close to the declared weight of the product. It can be concluded that Jack n’ Jill actually give the amount of product they declare to the consumers.
A possible recommendation for this investigation is to probably have different ways of measuring the weight of the product to confirm the validity of the experiment. Since the instrument used only measured to the nearest ones digit, it would not be as accurate if other instruments were used to measure the weight. It also would have been better if there were more trials to thoroughly check if the producers were actually giving the amount of product that they were declaring.

One of the ways of knowing in religion is reason. Reason is used in religion to try to understand what is being taught to us. We try to use reason to try and make sense of the teachings of our religion. Reason alone is not enough to try and understand religion. We must use reason together with the other ways of knowing to properly understand religion. Reason for the other areas of knowledge can have a larger or smaller role in trying to know things. For example, reason can have a very dominant part in trying to understand sciences while it may not be as important to things such as arts and morality. For religion, all of the ways of knowing are equally important in trying to know the teachings. An example is in the Creation stories in the book of Genesis. Our reason tells us that this is impossible, but we still continue to believe because of the other ways of knowing that allows us to see the meaning of the story. We see also how reason is used in religion in Pascal’s Wager. He was able to use reason to convince people to believe in God’s existence.

Sa tingin ko, hindi dapat panatilihin ang pagiging hospitable sa lahat ng oras. Ito ay dahil may mga taong oportunista katulad sa kuwento at sila ay kukuha lang ng kukuha kahit na nakikita nila na mahirarp na ang mga tao roon. Hindi nakita sa kuwento ang magandang epekto ng ugaling Pilipino na ito. Noong umalis na ang mga pangunaing tauhan sa kuwento, hindi na sinabi kung ano ang nangyari sa mga tao na pinuntahan nila.
SOP Reflection Day 4

Today was my last day of SOP. Even if I wasn’t able to do much, I still enjoyed today since we had a lot of fun. I learned a lot from the past four Saturdays and I realized that what may be inconsequential for us can make others incredibly happy.
