Chemistry Behind The Pen and Paper

Posted on: June 20, 2012

1. Paper is made up of cellulose fibers.

2. The pH level is taken into consideration when making paper because the more acidic the paper, the faster it will break up.

3. The ink in a pen is given color from pigment particles scattered in a solvent.

4. The paper can be treated in different chemicals to help them last longer.

5. Most inks contain iron sulfate, gallic and other chemicals so that they become permanent.
